Past Pupil Visit

As a teacher, it's always great to see your past pupils come back to visit, and see if they really did keep their promises to work hard once they left primary school.

One James Wolfe pupil who managed to do just that was Jordan Cousins. Now enjoying his first season at Queen's Park Rangers, Jordan has had a successful ten years since leaving James Wolfe, playing for Charlton Athletic, and being capped for England at Under 16, Under 17 and Under 18 levels.

Though Jordan came to visit our Royal Hill campus, James Wolfe was still based at Randall Place during his time with the school. "It's all very different to when I was at the school!" Cousins remarked. He was gracious enough to take the time to meet some of our children, and answer some of their questions. What were his words of wisdom for our children at James Wolfe today?
"Work hard and listen to what your teachers say!"
We agree, Jordan - thank you for stopping by, we wish you every success in the future!

Maths Madness

Today Miss R's Maths group tried their hardest to get their heads around a tricky skill: long multiplication.
To aid them on their quest, they paired up and went outside armed with chalk. Exercising their reciprocity skills, the children worked hard to explain the steps of learning to one another as well as helping each other to remember their tricky times tables.
"I feel much more confident about multiplication problems now," exclaimed Kasey.
Great work everybody! Can't wait to see you putting those skills to the test with some problems!

Book Club Launch

The children in Year 6 were very excited when they came into school this morning. There was a buzz around the classrooms and anticipation as the children had to carefully think about their choices.
What were they choosing?
Their book club of course! The sign up sheet was ready for children to assign themselves to a club, each run by a different member of staff. Book titles in the fantastic selection included: Ethel & Ernest (Raymond Briggs), Fantastic Beasts (J K Rowling), The Boy in the Striped  Pyjamas (John Boyne), The Midnight Gang (David Walliams) and Of Mice and Men (John Steinbeck) to name just a few!
Each Wednesday the children will meet in their assigned club with their text of choice and discuss the latest plot twist, predictions and persevere with reading.
More updates on Wednesday Book Club coming soon!
